The first Malaysian youth polo tournament, also known as 1MYPT, was a really historic moment for Malaysian polo. It brought some of the young talent from Malaysia and Singapore to compete together in a friendly yet competitive tournament. For me this was a great opportunity to make new friends from across Malaysia. There were so many cool kids that I met, that beyond polo are just super nice and the connection and friendships that were created during this tournament were really special. This event was also in support of the critically endangered national animal of Malaysia, the tiger. Each team name was a different breed of tiger and each of the shirts that we got had cool tiger markings on them. At the end of the first day we also had a talk with a WWF Malaysia representative on the dire situation that the tigers face. It was great to raise money through this tournament for the tigers as well as play polo. The tournament came down to a penalty shoot out with my good friend Aimann taking the win for his team and my team coming in second. I was awarded the most valuable junior player award. The tournament was a really great experience and I am looking forward to another youth tournament, hopefully expanding to Southeast Asia for more players and teams.
